PHAS students earned top spots in CAP University Prize Exams

Congratulations to the following PHAS students who received top prizes in the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) University Prize Exams! And, a special mention of Pedram Amani, who has achieved top 10 in the prize exam four years in a roll (including 2018)! 

The Lloyd G. Elliott University Prize Exam, organized by CAP, is normally held in February or March of each year. It is a national competition open to students across the country who are studying physics and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of the examination. Top three students in the competition receive cash prizes. In addition, prize winners are presented with their awards during the annual award ceremoy at the end of the CAP annual Congress.

2021

The 2021 examination was held on March 9, 2021. The examination was written by 61 students from 14 universities/colleges. Full 2021 prize list on the CAP website.

  • 3rd place overall – Pedram Amani
  • 10th place overall – Ryohei (Rio) Weil

2020

The 2020 examination was held on February 4, 2020. The examination was written by 51 students from 11 universities/colleges. Full 2020 prize list on the CAP website.

  • 7th place overall – Pedram Amani
  • 8th place overall – Wucheng Zhang

2019

The 2019 examination was held on February 5, 2019. The examination was written by 66 students from 15 universities/colleges. Full 2019 prize list on the CAP website.

  • 4th place overall – Pedram Amani
  • 6th place overall – Emilie Hertig
