Add to Calendar 2026-11-05T17:00:00 2026-11-05T18:20:00 From the First Quantum to the Second Quantum Revolution Event Information: Join three quantum scientists at UBC at different stages of their careers as they discuss past and future quantum revolutions in their field.  Led by Dr Anthony Ayari, senior researcher from the Light and Matter Institute at the University of Lyon, and current Visiting Scientist from France at Green College, the panelists will interrogate how they respectively approach strange quantum phenomena in their day-to-day work. Topics discussed will range from experimental and instrumental aspects, applications, theory, epistemology and philosophy, and right through to the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics, before opening up the floor for discussion with the audience. Add to Calendar 2026-11-30T09:00:00 2026-11-30T18:00:00 UBC Postdoctoral Research Day 2026 Event Information: On behalf of the UBC Postdoctoral Association, we are pleased to announce that UBC Postdoctoral Research Day 2026 will be held on Monday, November 30 at the Life Sciences Institute (2350 Health Sciences Mall). This annual event celebrates the diverse research of UBC’s postdoctoral fellows. The day will feature oral and poster presentations, a keynote talk, a panel discussion, and networking opportunities with peers and faculty across disciplines. This year's theme is “Beyond your lab: New knowledge starts with collaboration”. Complex problems benefit from having different perspectives and research does not need to be done only independently. Collaboration avoids disconnection and also means engaging the community. Research Day will run from 9am to 6pm on November 30, 2026 at the Life Sciences Institute (2350 Health Sciences Mall), featuring postdoc research talks and posters, a keynote address, and a panel discussion on “Collaborations across disciplines”. Our goal is to celebrate and highlight the breadth, diversity, and excellence of postdoctoral research at UBC, while encouraging knowledge exchange, meaningful connections, and new collaborations. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Agni Klintuni Boedhihartono, an Associate Professor from the UBC Faculty of Forestry. Her talk will highlight her interdisciplinary work exploring the relationships between people, cultures, and the natural environment. Through visual techniques, landscape scenario planning, and participatory methods, she engages diverse stakeholders and fosters collaboration across disciplines and cultural contexts to address complex challenges. Research Day offers postdocs a valuable opportunity to share their work through oral and poster presentations.
