Research Associate
Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Experimental Cosmology Laboratory in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia starting February 15, 2014. The laboratory is involved in building, testing and programming readout electronics for millimetre wave astronomical instruments
based on transition-edge sensing bolometers and squid based multiplexing hardware.
The successful candidate will assist with scientific project management of the multi-channel electronics, programming of the command, control and data acquisition computers associated with the readout electronics, tuning the performance of the electronics to particular experiments and assistance in the field with trouble shooting and
operations.
A PhD in physics or engineering is required, as is facility with real time programming device control.
Demonstrated success at timely delivery of flight electronics is required, as is evidence of working effectively with scientists and engineers in a development process. Frequent travel to the telescope sites and to the partner universities and to vendors may be required.

Salary will be competitive, and dependent upon experience. The appointment will be reviewed annually, subject to budgetary confirmation
