What happens when communication breaks down between a graduate student, postdoc, and supervisor— and what can we do differently?


 The PHAS Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Committee invites you to an interactive Conflict Theatre / Forum Theatre event:

Concept: A graduate student's conference plans unravel, sparking conflict between a student, postdoc, and supervisor. Audience members will have the opportunity to step into the action, try different responses, explore alternatives, and discover how different approaches might change the outcome.

The play was developed collaboratively by members of the PHAS community and the PHAS EDI Committee, under the guidance of Tom Scholte, Professor in UBC's Department of Theatre and Film. Through Forum Theatre, we will explore workplace conflict and communication, practice responding to challenging situations, and learn from multiple perspectives—all in a supportive environment.

Cast: Featuring a cast from our own PHAS community: Katelynn Hubenig, Thomas Rennie, and Andrea Damascelli.
Audience participation is encouraged, but no preparation is required.

All PHAS graduate students, postdocs, research staff, staff, and faculty are warmly invited. We hope you can join us and help us explore how challenging conversations can unfold differently.
