Sessional Opportunities – 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for possible sessional appointments during the 2026/2027 academic year. These appointments may include lecture instruction and/or laboratory instruction in one or more undergraduate Physics courses.

Potential instructional needs currently include:

Term 1

  • PHYS 117

Term 2

  • PHYS 158
  • PHYS 170
  • PHYS 119 laboratory sections
  • PHYS 159 laboratory sections
  • PHYS 229 laboratory sections

Term 3

  • PHYS 118

Please note that:

  • appointments may be for one or more courses and/or laboratory sections;
  • applicants do not need to be available for all listed assignments;
  • additional sessional opportunities may arise;
  • final assignments are subject to enrollment, operational requirements, and instructor availability.

Duties may include lecturing, preparation of course materials, supervision of teaching assistants and laboratory activities, student consultation, grading oversight, and related instructional responsibilities.

Applicants should have appropriate academic qualifications and demonstrated teaching ability in Physics or a closely related field. Previous university-level teaching experience is preferred.

Applications should include:

  • a curriculum vitae;
  • a brief statement of teaching experience and areas of instructional interest;
  • and, if available, evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Compensation will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and will depend on qualifications and assigned duties.
