Internet & Telephone
Access to the Internet is provided etiher by the PHAS Local Area Network (https://phas.ubc.ca/local-area-network) or the UBC WIreless (https://phas.ubc.ca/ubc-wireless) network.
The PHAS VPN (https://phas.ubc.ca/phas-vpn) (Virtual Private Network) allows UBC wireless and remote users to be authenticated in order to gain access to departmental resources.
UBC-IT provides IP telephone service (http://it.ubc.ca/services/email-voice-internet/telephones) to all our buildings. In most cases, the IP phone is connected to the departmental LAN wall port & the workstation is plugged into the phone. This should not noticably affect the bandwidth to the workstation.
Most office phones are Cisco M6941 (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/6921_6941_6961/8_5/english/user_guide/21enu85.pdf) or a similar model.
