Postdoctoral Fellow
Department of Physics and Astronomy, UBC

Catherine Heymans is an astrophysics research fellow at the University of British Columbia studying the mysterious Dark Matter and Dark Energy that make up our Universe. Using some of the largest Hubble Space Telescope surveys, Catherine has used an innovative new method called weak lensing to map Dark Matter. She completed her PhD at the University of Oxford, England in 2003 and then held a research fellowship at the Max-Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. Catherine has just returned to UBC after 6 months maternity leave and is now looking forward to balancing her successful career with a happy family life.
