Physics 216 : Mechanics

Lectures: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 11-12 in Hugh Dempster pavilion, room 110.

Tutorials: Tuesdays, 10-11 (Hennings 304), 11-12 (Hebb 12) or 13-14 (Hebb 12). Participation in tutorials in mandatory, the exams will include material covered only in tutorials.

Office hours: Hennings 412, Wednesdays 12-13, or by appointment.

Textbook: Merriam and Kraige: Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics, eighth edition (required).

 

Announcements:

The final exam is on Monday April 18th. It will be 3 hours and have 4 questions. All the material in class, tutorial and homework will be covered. You are allowed one formula sheet (two sided) and no books. Calculator without internet connection is permitted. As practice, doing the homework and similar problems is recommended. Here is the final exam from last year (note however that Problem 2 relies on material not covered this year).

Grading scheme:

Homework will be given on Fridays, and will be due on the following Friday in class. No late homework will be accepted. Solutions for the homework will be posted shortly after the due date.

You are welcome to discuss the problems with the other students, but the submitted assignments must be your own work.

Please try to resolve grading issues for assignments with the grader first. Contact me if there are still unresolved issues after that discussion.
