Part One of Problem Set One is the math assesment test handed out in class. If you need a copy, please ask after class, or stop by my office (Hennings 280). It will be due Wednesday, September 15, at the end of class.

The math assesment should be completed in no more than 75 minutes (though it might take you a lot less than that). You should work on it alone and without looking at any books/notes. I will look these over and award full participation marks to anyone who honestly attempted to do the whole thing. How well you do on the test will not affect your grade. The tests will be graded by special TAs from the Science Education Initiative. Thanks for helping SEI with their research on how to better teach sciences at UBC!

A number of questions on the test are multiple choice. For these questions (and for these questions only) fill in the appropriate bubble on the scanotron sheet you have been given. Don't forget to put your name on the scanotron sheet! If a question is not multiple choice, please don't fill in anything for that question number - leave the corresponding line of bubbles blank. Write your answer on the test paper instead.
