Premier Undergraduate Scholarships and Wesbrook Scholars Competition Criteria
Criteria for Wesbrook Scholars
Twenty Wesbrook Scholar designations are awarded each year. To be considered, candidates must:
- Have attended UBC for at least one full previous winter session as a full-time student (see definition below);
- Rank academically in the top 10% of their year and Faculty;
- Have entered the penultimate or final year of a baccalaureate program (including J.D.), or any year of M.D. or D.M.D. programs;
- Have demonstrated ability to work with and lead others; as well as having participated in student and community activities; and
- Be nominated by their Faculty or School.
Criteria for Premier Undergraduate Scholarships
Premier Undergraduate Scholarship candidates are subject to the same criteria as the Wesbrook Scholars, with the following additional criteria:
- Must have attended UBC for at least two full previous winter sessions as a full-time student (see definition below);
- Can also be in the first year of graduate studies in September of last year;
- Can be nominated by the AMS or GSS (in addition to the Faculty or School); and
- Some of these awards require an interest or participation in sports
Note: Applications do not need to specify for which set of scholarships a student is being nominated. Student Financial Assistance and Awards will ensure that candidates are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Full Time Student Requirements:
- Were registered in a minimum of 27 percentage-graded credits during the winter session, September to April; OR
- Were registered in a reduced course load due to extenuating circumstances (documentation is required); OR
- Were registered in 13.5 percentage-graded credits of course work during one term of the winter session and one term on co-op or an education abroad program; OR
- Participated in an education abroad program for two terms during the winter session
